Robert Alan Soloway has been arrested in Seattle according to this Fox News article. Soloway is supposedly one of the top 10 email spammers in the the world.
He has been charged with mail fraud, wire fraud, e-mail fraud, aggravated identity theft and money laundering.
Prosecutors say Soloway used computers infected with malicious code to send out millions of junk e-mails since 2003. The computers are called “zombies” because owners typically have no idea their machines have been infected.
He had previously lost a civil suit in 2005 to Microsoft ($7 million), and another to a small Internet service provider in Oklahoma ($10 million). In spite of that he has continued his Spamming activities.
These new charges have been filed in Federal court, so hopefully he will get a lot of jail time.
